Fake KZN traditional healer sentenced for raping teen
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A Madadeni court has sentenced a 33-year-old Newcastle man to life in prison for the rape of a teenager.
Prosecutors say he pretended to be a traditional healer.
He told the 17-year-old's mother he could heal her daughter, who kept getting sick.
"Prior to the incident, the man befriended the girl's mother, pretending to be a traditional healer," says KZN NPA's spokesperson Natasha Kara.

"Under disguise, he lured the girl away from her home and raped her. The National Prosecuting Authority welcomes the successful finalisation of this matter as it affirms our commitment to curbing the scourge of gender-based violence."
Kara says the man was arrested for sexually harassing the teen in April last year.
She says the girl's been left severely traumatised.
