Failing substations push uMsunduzi Municipality into darkness

Msunduzi officials have been explaining why some communities were plunged into darkness this week.
The Municipality's acknowledged its inability to consistently supply power to residents and businesses, is frustrating.
Spokesperson Thobeka Mafumbatha says some electricity failures are due to substations and transformers packing up.

She says though some are also vandalised during service delivery protests.
Mafumbatha says on Wednesday, hundreds of residents from Tehesi and Edendale went on the rampage burning various objects and barricading roads over a lack of power and water supply.
"Resident went on a protest, against electricity and water. As a result, have shown, it is the result of the overload in our infrastructure currently, that is what is happening and affecting some areas."
There have been also work done in the reservoir at Midmar.
