eThekwini works to restore power following morning outage

Technicians are currently on the ground, trying to turn the lights back on in the Greater Durban area.

They're working to restore power to all areas affected by a massive power outage this morning.
Residents woke up to darkness - with traffic lights, homes and businesses left without electricity in the CBD and surrounding suburbs from around 6-o'clock. Some areas have since had their electricity restored.
eThekwini spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela says they're still trying to pin-point the cause of the blackout.

He says the affected substations have been identified.
"We want to apologise to all our residents and the business community - more especially in the inner city and neighbouring suburbs like Glenwood. We have also dispatched our Metro Police officers in strategic, major intersections to control traffic. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to motorists. We are very hopeful the situation will be back to normal," Mayisela said.
Substations affected include -
City Central, Beachwalk, Cato St, Addington Major, Alice St Major, Jameson Park, Dalton Major Congella and Gyles.
