The weekend's heavy rains and strong winds knocked out electricity to many areas.

The department says around 3 200 faults were reported over the weekend.

It says the outage in Ntuzuma A and B sections has been resolved and technicians are now focussing on C and H sections.

Restoration is in progress in Isolezwe, P and G sections and in Prospecton.

It says repairs are also being done in LaMercy and Umdloti where infrastructure was severely damaged and in Marianridge and Pinetown where a faulty cable is being fixed.

The city says some of the electrical equipment was submerged in water during the floods and residents can expect supply issues for a while.

It says eThekwini is still not participating in load shedding so any outage is not related.
