eThekwini and uMngeni-uThukela Water will be summoned twice a week to update the South African Human Rights Commission on efforts to deal with the water supply crisis in Verulam, Tongaat and Phoenix.
One concern is how long it's taking authorities to restore the affected communities' supply.
The SAHRC says the other issue is the ongoing violation of the residents' constitutional right to access to the resource.
The commission held urgent talks with the Verulam Water Crisis Committee and the Tongaat Civic Association following a string of protests recently.
Going forward, it says the meetings with local and provincial water officials will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays.

They are to continue until the problem is sorted out.
Dravina Ramai from Trenance Park told Newswatch they feel helpless.
"That tanker is only giving us 100 litres a day, it's not enough. We then have to financially buy water just to sustain ourselves, so it's taken an emotional, physical and mental toll on the entire community."
