In most instances, supply was cut when water infrastructure was damaged during last month's floods.

Affected residents have now become desperate, telling Newswatch they last saw water out of their taps nearly a month ago when the floods hit KZN.

While the city has dispatched water tankers, some say they are not reaching their areas, while others are not happy with the frequency of the deliveries.

They are now turning to Human Rights Commission, hoping it'll intervene.

The commission has already launched an investigation into the supply disruption in Tongaat and surrounding areas.

KZN manager Lloyd Lotz says it's looking into concerns from other areas and considering various options.

He says the commission also seeks to ensure that all affected residents are provided with sufficient temporary measures to address their needs in the interim.
