If sections of your property were damaged during eThekwini Municipality’s installations of fibre cables, you’re being asked by the city to come forward.

Some residents have complained that water pipes and electricity lines in their areas were damaged during digging.

City spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says infrastructure should not have been affected by the rollout.

"We continue to appeal to the public to report to us in the event that their infrastructure has ben tampered with.

"We usually give all contractors maps so that they will be able to be in the know as to where these cables are and the pipes are before they even dig the trenches where they are going to lay these fibre optic cables in. So we are apologising."
