Several groups warn that they'll withhold payment for services they aren't receiving.
At a council meeting last week Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda revealed plans to increase tariffs while tabling the draft 20-24/20-25 budget.
The proposals include a 14% increase for electricity 14.9% for water an almost 13% cost hike for sanitation and around 10% for refuse collection. Ish Praladh is with the eThekwini Ratepayers Association.

"It is important, that we as ratepayers and residents alike understand that we are a voice, and it needs to be heard loud and clear.
"eThekwini Municipality's proposed budget comes in a time where the City is economically unstable. Many residents are receiving bills so high they are making pay arrangements otherwise eThekwini will stop services."
