eThekwini promises more raids and arrests in problem buildings
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
eThekwini Municipality says arrests are imminent as it continues with raids on the city’s problem buildings.

Officials descended on a number of properties in the CBD and uncovered a string of illicit activities including someone operating a sweatshop factory. There were also illegal water and electricity connections supplying illegally occupied rooms.
The municipality's Msawakhe Mayisela says more buildings will be inspected.
"We have identified more than 80 buildings within the inner city. Some have been used for drug trafficking and some for prostitution and many other social ills", he said.
"It is a serious concern because when we embark on these raids you find there is overcrowding, stolen electricity and water and it is unfair to law abiding citizens", Mayisela said.
