eThekwini 'optimistic' talks with striking DSW workers will be fruitful

A meeting between municipal worker unions and city management is underway - following unrest at the Durban Solid Waste Department.
Refuse collection has been disrupted across the city - due to what the eThekwini Municipality is calling illegal strikes.
Last week, DSW workers blocked the N2 freeway with municipal trucks.

The City's Msawakhe Mayisela said: "We are very optimistic that the meeting that is currently underway will yield positive results that will pave the way for the situation to return to normal.
"We sincerely apologise to all our residents that have been affected by this state of affairs, but we are trying everything in our power to ensure that we resolve this impasse."
