Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
The
eThekwini Fire Service says its officials will be meeting with the management
of China Emporium in Durban Central on Monday to discuss the building's planned
demolition.

The mall has been gutted by a fire which broke out over a week ago.
eThekwini Municipality's engineers say the building is not safe.
Businesses and residents in and around the complex have had to be evacuated over concerns that the building might collapse.

"We will be meeting with the China Mall management and they will give us feedback in terms of what is being done and when can we expect the building to be demolished,” says Zibuse Ngcece, who is a regional commander at the eThekwini Fire Department.
“There are processes involved leading to the demolishing of the building.”
