Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini Mayor, Zandile Gumede has condemned a wave of attacks on foreign nationals in communities in and around Durban this week.

In the latest incident, locals raided and looted shops owned by immigrants at the Burnwood informal settlements in Sydenham.
Gumede's spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says police have been deployed to control and monitor the situation in and around Burnwood, Kenville and Greenwood Park.
"We're very worried about the recent incidents that are rearing its ugly head. We are calling upon our law enforcement to arrest - where the need arises. We are also calling upon our people to refrain from these incidents. Currently, foreign nationals have left their homes and the shops that they were operating," he said.
