eThekwini given a week's deadline in Cato Crest protest

Abahlali Basemjondolo says residents of Cato Crest informal settlement have given eThekwini a week to respond to their grievances.
About 200 community members protested in the area yesterday calling for access to water, electricity and sanitation. Abahlali's Mqapheli Bonono says their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
"These people are still living without basic services - toilets, water and electricity. They have decided to go on to the road to voice themselves. They started engaging with the counsellor but the counsellor has [not responded]. They have seen that they were excluded from the budget being ," Bonono said.

Bonono says officials who addressed the community yesterday said they'll report back to the municipality and respond within seven days.
