eThekwini expecting ‘bumper’ Easter weekend

eThekwini officials expect close to 1.3 million holiday makers to make their way to Durban over the long Easter weekend.

The municipality says it is ready for the influx of visitors and has ramped up safety measures across tourist spots.

 

Mayor Cyril Xaba says direct spending is estimated to inject some R2.5 billion into the local economy.

Speaking at the launch of the city's "Endless Fun Season" campaign on Monday , he said around 11,000 temporary jobs have been created for the busy period.

 

" We are looking at increasing holiday makers who will descend [on] Durban and from our festive season experience this promises to be another bumper period for the city, and we are excited about it.”
