eThekwini EFF vows to continue Clicks protest despite interim interdict

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in eThekwini says its members won't resort to violence - as they protest at Clicks stores over a hair advert that's been slammed as racist.

Their demonstrations continued for a second day today. Yesterday - some shops in other parts of the country were damaged.

Clicks was on Tuesday granted an interim interdict - preventing the EFF from intimidating the retailer's employees and disrupting the business operations.

EFF eThekwini Regional Chair, Mlebuka Hlengwa says they understand the terms of the interdict - and just want Clicks' doors to be kept closed.

"We are not harassing anyone. We are not vandalising anything. We are just fighting for black dignity; we can't be fighting for black dignity and vandalise properties. We are doing what we believe is right, but we are not going to vandalise anything."

The Clicks Group today said it was immediately removing all TRESemmé products from its shelves.

It's the hair care brand whose advert was on the Clicks website and has led to the outrage.

Both Clicks and TRESemmé have apologised - while employees who published the ad have been suspended.

The retailer says its stores will not open ton Wednesday - as it will be using the time to provide support and counselling to staff.
