Eskom warns of 'erratic' load shedding schedule this week
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
South Africans will have to have to brace themselves
for various stages of loadshedding this week.
The rolling blackouts come after Eskom experienced more unit breakdowns at its power stations.
Stage 4 power cuts were under way on Monday morning, and will escalate to stage 5 in the afternoon.
Stage 5 load shedding will be implemented during the evenings at 4pm until midnight from Monday to Wednesday.
Load shedding will vary between stage 4 and stage 2 during the day.
Eskom's Sikhonathi Mantshantsha warns this week's schedule will be a bit more erratic due to the loss of its buffer of diesel generation.

Mantshantsha says their emergency generation reserves have also depleted.
"We currently have 5 354MW on planned maintenance, while another 14 495MW of capacity is
unavailable due to breakdowns."
