Eskom shines light at end of tunnel, will review load shedding status

Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter says the power utility seems to be in a much better place now.
"At the moment, we are reviewing our status when it comes to potentially lifting load shedding,” he told a briefing on Friday.
The country was hit with Stage 2 load shedding on Wednesday after several generating units failed.

Speaking at a media briefing on Friday morning, Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer said they'll assess the situation at 5pm on Friday afternoon and then make a call on the load shedding plan for the weekend.

"We have managed to return another unit at Kusile 1, so that unit is running under 500 megawatts. The non-commercial unit , the Kusile unit 4, is really doing exceptionally well and I think it's running just under 750 megawatts.

"This is a non-commercial unit, we are doing testing and something may happen. So we are not going to specifically put this unit's eggs in the basket when we make the decision."
