Eskom recovers R30m unlawfully paid to Molefe

Eskom has confirmed the recovery of R30 million it unlawfully paid to its former CEO Brian Molefe.

The recovery follows an earlier ruling by the High Court in Pretoria, which reaffirmed a judgment which set aside the 2016 early retirement agreement between Molefe and the power utility.

In terms of the agreement, Eskom paid to the pension fund approximately R30 million to boost Molefe’s early retirement pension payout.

Molefe is also among the four former Transnet senior executives who have been arrested in connection with a dodgy locomotive deal worth some R50 billion.
