Court grants former Transnet execs Molefe, Anoj Singh bail
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Former Transnet group chief executive Brian Molefe and former finance chief Anoj Singh have been granted bail in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.

Molefe and Singh, who were arrested on Monday morning on corruption-related charges, were granted bail of R50 000 each.
They have joined co-accused Regiments Capital directors Niven Pillay and Litha Nyhonhya in connection with a R93 million Transnet locomotive case.
The State did not oppose bail.

Molefe, represented by his lawyer Mpho Molefe, earlier argued why he should be granted bail.
"My continual incarceration will financial prejudice members of my family as I make a major contribution and myself because this matter might be disposed of after some time."
Singh, through his lawyer Anneline van den Heever, told the court he's not a flight risk.
"We deal with the fact that we lived in South Africa our whole life, family and our friends. We do not intend to flee. It is not an option.
"We further state that the client has strong family, community and occupation tires both in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. He was born and raised here and lived here all his life."

The Democratic Alliance says their arrests are long overdue.
The party's Glynnis Breytenbach believes the Guptas and ANC cadres have used Transnet as their own piggy bank.
"While others have already been charged in this case, it seems like the last chickens have finally come home to roost. The next step must be for the R41.2 billion contracts that were awarded to companies linked to the Guptas and their associates be recouped."
They are expected back in court on October 14.
