Eskom: Load shedding set to ease on Thursday
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Outgoing Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter says the probability of a
total system blackout remains very low.

De Ruyter addressed the media on Monday amid fears that the stage 6 load shedding could escalate into stage 8.
"In this point and time we do not anticipate that there is a risk of going beyond stage 8. That is part of our contingency planning that is in place. I can give the country assurance that we are doing everything in our power to ensure that we do not end up in a situation where we go beyond that."
The power utility pushed the country into stage 6 load shedding over the weekend due to a high number of breakdowns at power plants and wet coal.
De Ruyter said the high stage of rolling black-outs will likely continue until Wednesday.
"Probably going until 5am on Thursday after which time we will go to load shedding stage 4."
