Eskom to implement stage 2 loadshedding
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Eskom is going to implement loadshedding stage 2 starting from today.

Stage 2 rotational power cuts will start from 10pm until 5am for two nights.
The utility says it needs to recover and preserve emergency generation reserves that have been used to support the system, after the planned shutdown of Koeberg unit 1.
Other units haven't yet returned to full service.

In a statement, Eskom says they currently have 6 672MW on planned maintenance, while another 12 073MW of capacity is
unavailable due to unplanned maintenance.
"Eskom teams are working around the clock to return as many of these units to service as soon as possible."
They add that at the moment the equivalent of two large power stations is out for planned maintenance,
adding pressure to the system.
