uMhlathuze Municipality launches probe into dried up water supply
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Almost half of the wards in uMhlathuze have had no running water for six days.

The supply issues have been blamed on contaminants at the Cubhu Water Works, discovered on New Year's Day.
The municipality's Mdu Ncalane says tests were conducted and traces of diesel were found in raw water, which they began to immediately flush out.

He says they're working to restore the area's full supply by Friday. uMhlathuze's meanwhile ordered a forensic probe into the matter.
Ncalane says it appears thieves had tried to steal the diesel being used by generators to pump water
"It's about 15 wards that were affected, it covers the whole eSikhaleni township, eMpangeni, Port Dunford and other areas.
"The Department of Water and Sanitation has been furnished with a comprehensive report and it will conduct its own water quality checks. The investigation will also ascertain the impact of water contamination on human life," he adds.
