Higher tariffs driven by Eskom's low revenue, says CFO

The Durban public hearings into Eskom's application to the National Energy Regulator - for a 15% electricity tariff increase - have gotten underway.
Eskom is facing debt of around R400 billion as well as costly ongoing repairs to power stations.
The utility's Calib Cassim says the the hike request is partly informed by Eskom's poor revenue and an under-performing economy.
