Eskom 'can only afford so much' amid spiking diesel prices
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Eskom says it's keeping a close watch on diesel levels and
costs.
The utility says while Russia's invasion of Ukraine has driven up oil and fuel prices worldwide, it hasn't been directly affected yet.
Eskom was briefing the country on the state of the national power grid on Tuesday.
Load shedding stage 2 is continuing until Saturday morning. Eskom's CFO Calib Cassim said if diesel prices double, they do have options.

"Eskom, from a cash flow perspective, can only afford so much for diesel and we’ll get to the point where we won’t have funds to pay for additional diesel beyond a certain point.
"We should look at the performance of the generation and that's the are we need to address to mitigate loadshedding,” said Cassim.
