Eshowe schoolgirl emotionally unwell after rape
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The family of a 12-year-old girl who was molested, allegedly by her teacher at the Kwazibonele Primary School in Eshowe in northern KZN, says she isn't coping emotionally.
The teacher who has been charged with rape and molestation failed to appear in court yesterday, with his defence saying he is sick.
When the girl's mother discovered her child was being molested, she reported the abuse to the school where 24 more pupils came forward.
They haven't laid charges.
She says her daughter has become aggressive and often wants to be left alone.
''She had prepared for the trial, she promised she will get on the stand. She said mom, today I will tell all. Whereas in March she didn't want to. Now that the case is postponed, I'm not sure she will still be willing to testify,'' she said.

The girl's uncle says he didn't expect such a sensitive trial to be delayed.
''I'm angry, I'm just so angry because I know he is not sick. He is faking it, even the prosecutors want a date so late I don't know why,'' he said.
