The trial of the man was meant to begin today in the eShowe Magistrate's Court, but had to be postponed after the court was told the accused has fallen ill.

The 42-year-old accused is charged with raping and molesting the 12-year-old Grade 7 pupil at KwaZibonele Primary School with another 24 learners also saying they were victims.

The girl's mother found out about the rape after discovering a note in her daughter's school bag in which she detailed the abuse.

She says after immediately reporting the matter to the school, other pupils also spoke up.

"It hurts that it is now just my child in court alone. I've had moments of doubt about why I opened a case but I see I have lots of support. The other parents must come forward and stand up for their children," she said.
