A staff member at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) has tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the closure of a section in it's Mechanical Engineering Department.

Other staff members have since been requested to self-isolate.
DUT's Alan Khan says the closure is at the Steve Biko Campus.
"A total of 11 staff members were in contact, and those staff members have now all been requested to self-isolate.

"The affected section in the Mechanical Engineering Department has been closed. We will review this decision as soon as the test results of the other staff members have been conveyed to the university.
"A small class of students had contact with the lecturer, but as per the NICD higher health definition, there was no close contact."
