Elderly woman's murder case could be heard in high court
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The case against a Phoenix man who allegedly murdered his bedridden wife could land up in the Durban High Court.
During a previous appearance - Pillay told the court that he would be pleading guilty to the offence and that he would be representing himself.
However, it emerged today that the legal aid board has since provided Pillay with an advocate.
The State is still waiting for post mortem results. Proceedings have been adjourned to next week for a decision on whether the matter will be going to the high court. Bail is still being opposed.
The body of 69-year-old Dhanalutchmee Naidoo was found on her bed in her Phoenix home just over a week ago. Her throat had been slit.
