Eight die in bakkie-taxi crash near Umzimkhulu

Eight people have been killed after a bakkie and a taxi crashed near Umzimkhulu in southern KZN.
Authorities say the vehicles crashed on the R56 between Umzimkhulu and Ibisi yesterday.
KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie says eight people died on scene while another 10 people required medical attention.
"Paramedics from KZN EMS treated a total of ten patients at the scene before transporting them through to hospital. The exact cause of this crash is not known at this stage and police are investigating," he says.

Two people who were taken to hospital are in a critical condition.
Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says they are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
"The quantum and double cab vehicle were involved in a collision. The cause of the accident is yet to be established," she says.
