EFF 'ready to battle' SAHRC in Equality Court

The EFF has vowed to defend itself against a charge brought by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in the Equality Court.

This after the commission confirmed it will be taking EFF leader Julius Malema to the Equality Court.

The SAHRC has decided to go the legal route after Malema failed to heed its request to apologise for remarks he made at an EFF People's Assembly.

Malema was given ten working days to aplogise, but he refused.

Lobby group AfriForum submitted the initial complaint to the SAHRC in October after Malema said: "You must never be afraid to kill, a revolution requires killing at some point because killing is part of the revolutionary act."

EFF spokesperson Leigh-Ann Mathys says they are ready to go court.

"We are just processing SAHRC application; however, our decision remains the same. We are not going to respond, we will see them in court."
