Educator suspended after beating special needs pupil
A Gauteng education department official has been suspended.
It comes after she was caught on camera assaulting a special needs child.
The provincial education department spokesperson Steve Mabona says the woman who was seen violently hitting the teenager has been arrested.
The official has since been released on bail, Mabona says. The bus driver is also facing suspension.

Corporal punishment at schools
More and more videos of corporal punishment being meted out to learners are surfacing on social media.
Basic education minister Angie Motshekga says such teachers will be dismissed.

She was speaking at a press briefing in Pretoria last week.
The minister says despite corporal punishment being illegal for the last 20 years, it remains common practice in classrooms.
"Corporal punishment is an issue that has once again raised its ugly head. We have seen extremely disturbing videos emerge on socialmedia of disgusting misconduct by teachers."
