ECR's Managing Director Boni Mchunu says the passing of AKA has left the station devastated.

She says Super Mega was one of the biggest artists to take part in the Something like Summer music pop campaign which was held in November last year.

She says East Coast Radio and AKA shared an impactful relationship.

"Honestly I am shattered, I am depleted, I am in shock to say the least. AKA was a friend of East Coast Radio and he was absolutely amazing, he loved the brand. Over and above that AKA did stuff with the station at no cost, like he used to come to each and every Toy Story event that we did to help out raise the funds for the kids in KZN that are less privileged. All I can say is condolences to his family. Condolences to his daughter which I really think he loved so much. I hope they are able during this time to find strength in God. As a brand East Coast Radio, we really are sad and I wish to send our deepest and sincere condolences to his family."

AKA was shot and killed at close range alongside his friend while leaving a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on Friday night.

Another fan of  Super Mega has urged Police Minister Bheki Cele to find the culprits.

"I hope honourable Bheki Cele is going to do something and catch these criminals because AKA spoke for the youth. It's really a sad day for the youth in South Africa."

Another fan said AKA's passing was unexpected.

"At first we thought it was a joke. I'm thinking of his family, friends and especially Nadia Nakai. I wonder how she's feeling , I'm sure she's heartbroken."

One fan said she feels for AKA's daughter Kairo.

"At a young age knowing that your father just passed away, that must be traumatising for her."
