Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The Pongola Regional Court has sentenced a man to 36 years imprisonment for the murders and attempted murder of three members of the same family.

Mlungisi Mamba had an altercation with his neighbour Bonginkosi Hlatshwayo in the Ebasuthwini area, northern KwaZulu-Natal last year.
He then armed himself with a spear and went to Hlatshwayo’s house.
Mamba stabbed Hlatshwayo several times but Hlatshwayo managed to escape.

He then attacked Hlatshwayo’s 63-year-old mother and his younger sister, who both later died.
KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Natasha Kara said: "Mamba was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for each count of murder and six years imprisonment for attempted murder.
"The sentences will run consecutively. The NPA in KZN welcomes the successful prosecution.”
