Eastern Cape pupils recovering in hospital after eating from feeding scheme

Around 120 primary schoolchildren in the Eastern Cape have been rushed to hospital after consuming food that was possibly contaminated.

Provincial education officials say the pupils from iKamvalesizwe Primary School in Kenton-on-Sea became sick after eating lunch served at the school under the government feeding programme.

The department's spokesperson Vuyiseka Mboxela says there'll be an investigation.
"The district officials, psycho-social support of the department and also the parents are with the leaners in the hospital.
They are awaiting a report which is after they have been tested of what could be the reasons of them vomiting and also having stomach cramps.

"Immediately when we got a report from the from the health officals, we'll be able to release a comprehensive statement."
