Probe after KwaMaphumulo pupils fall ill from lollipops
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
The KwaZulu-Natal Health Department has asked a team of environmental health specialists to investigate after around 80 pupils fell ill at a school in KwaMaphumulo.
Officials say the children were vomiting and complained of stomach cramps on Monday after they apparently ate lollipops they bought from sweet vendors outside the school.
A video of the group in distress at a clinic has been shared online.

The department says 46 pupils, admitted to a hospital in Ilembe District, were treated and discharged the same day.
It says reports of a death of a pupil are not true.
The exact cause of the children's illness is being investigated.
