Durban drivers set to join e-hailing strike

The
South African E-hailing Association says it will be joining a three-day strike
by drivers against rising fuel prices set to take place next week.

It says a protest march will also be held in Durban on
Tuesday.
Drivers are expected to march to Durban City Hall where a memorandum of
grievances will be handed over to the provincial government.
It says the record fuel price is leaving them destitute, as e-hailing
companies have failed to adjust their pricing and commissions.
Meanwhile, E-hailing App organisation, Unity in Diversity says next week’s
strike is expected to draw at least 50 000 participants nationwide.
The organisation plans to protest over petrol hikes, exploitation and the
safety of ehailing drivers.

"Some days other people may participate, other days they may not participate but I think by Thursday we would've gained full momentum and they will be no industry participation or action at all. So everybody will be offline on the 24th.
"Whether, you are Uber, Bolt, Uber Eats and delivery. There will be no services," spokesperson Vhathuka Mbelengwa said on Friday.
