Metro spokesperson Parboo Sewpersad says law enforcement agencies will be monitoring the situation.

Sewpersad says they will also have extra officers inside the stadium to avoid any chaos, as Chiefs go head-to-head with arch rivals Orlando Pirates.

Tickets are sold out, but eThekwini has set-up free public viewing areas.

Sewpersad says people not going to the stadium or outdoor screenings should try and avoid the busy areas.

Kickoff is at 3pm.

Meanwhile, 18 security guards were hurt during the Nedbank Cup semi-final between Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars in April.

Angry supporters invaded the pitch when Chiefs lost the match 2-nil.

An armoured police Nyala had to be driven in to the stadium to stop the riot. Several fires were lit in the stands and television camera equipment was damaged.

Nine soccer hooligans have since pleaded guilty to charges of public violence in connection with the unrest.

Sentencing proceedings are due to get underway on the 12th of December.
