Some 18 security guards were hurt during the Nedbank Cup semi-final between Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars in April.

Angry supporters invaded the pitch when Chiefs lost the match 2-nil.

An armoured police Nyala had to be driven in to the stadium to stop the riot. Several fires were lit in the stands and television camera equipment damaged.

Nine soccer hooligans have since pleaded guilty to charges of public violence in connection with the unrest.

Sentencing proceedings are due to get underway on the 12th of December.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says various law enforcement agencies will be deployed to the precinct this weekend.

"We will be deploying personnel in and around the stadium to ensure everything runs smoothly and there is stability during the match," said Zwane.

Meanwhile, four people were arrested earlier this week in connection with the sale of fake tickets ahead of the fixture.

Zwane says police will continue with a zero-tolerance approach in this regard.
