Durban security company slapped with R20m fine, operating again

Durban based security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) is operating again, but has been slapped with a R20 million fine by private security regulator Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
RUSA was last month ordered to stop operations by the Durban High Court when it upheld PSIRA's suspension of the company's licence.

PSIRA had accused the company of violation the code of conduct.
RUSA's spokesperson Prem Balram says they have pleaded guilty to the standing charges and have taken steps against their employees found guilty of misconduct.

PSIRA says R17 million of the fine is suspended on condition RUSA is not found guilty of similar charges within a year from now.
