Durban SAPS on the ground for Durban July

The SAPS in Durban says officers will be deployed in their numbers at this weekend's Hollywoodbets Durban July.
Authorities say they will also be deployed around the city to tackle any problems that might disrupt the event at the Greyville Racecourse.

Carmen Rhynes, the spokesperson for the SAPS eThekwini District Commissioner, says joint law enforcement teams will conduct operations around the city and on major routes.
Rhynes says they will focus on drunk driving, among other illegal activities.
"High visibility operations concentrating on liquor outlets and entertainment areas will also be prioritised.

Police and other law enforcement agencies will monitor the event and ensure peace and stability. Spectators and horse racing fans are requested to behave and enjoy the entertainment.
"All persons attending the Durban July are urged to protect their valuables whilst at the race course. Whilst on the race course, one must be aware of criminals who may be mingling with the crowd, so it's important not to leave any valuables unattended."
