Durban residents march against crime

Residents from Phoenix, Chatsworth and Verulam are calling for more visible policing in their communities to curb violent crime.
Scores of concerned residents have marched from the Cardinal Road Cricket Grounds in Phoenix, to a local police station.
A memorandum of demands was handed over to the station commander.
Natasha Naidoo - who is with the #Justice4Donovan campaign - says a more hands-on approach is needed to nab hijackers, house robbers and murderers.
“We don’t want (alleged) murderers to be walking free in our area, while we have to hide at home,” she says.
Naidoo says the communtiy us calling for more community engagement and for the police to work with them.
Donovan Naicker, of Phoenix, was assaulted and stoned to death after apparently trying to stop a fight in March.
Three men accused of his murder are out on bail.
