Durban port improves measures to alleviate congestion

Transnet says it's pulled out all the stops to alleviate congestion at the Port of Durban.

Among other initiatives, a multi-disciplinary task team's been working with the transport industry and has asked that depots operate 24 hours a day.

The team's introduced a truck drivers' induction programme, which includes behaviour guidance strategies for truckers entering and leaving the port.
General Manager at the Port of Durban, Moshe Motlohi says compliance is everyone's responsibility.
"It's beginning to look more positive. We are beginning to flatten those high peaks."
