Durban policeman accused of shooting cat at airport
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Police are probing the recent shooting of a cat - allegedly by one of their own - at Durban's King Shaka International Airport.

The ginger tom was shot dead in the early hours of the morning, on New Year's Eve.
A Facebook post about the incident - and claiming this was the doing of an on-duty policeman - has since gone viral, inciting the ire of animal lovers across the city.
National police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidu says they are investigating charges of the negligent discharge of a firearm and contravening the Animal Protection Act.
"At this stage, we do have information from the member involved but we can not conclusively say that what the member is alleging is what actually happened, therefore we have to conduct an investigation," he says.
