Nokwethemba Mchunu, who grew up in KwaMashu, will be reciting one of her works at a major concert at Durban's ICC tonight and tomorrow night.
The 26-year-old is a recipient of the Crown Gospel Music Award, having made her debut two years ago.
She says she draws inspiration from those who pursue their talents despite their circumstances.
"All the young people that are doing great in the industry - there are so many. Every young person that has gotten a big breakthrough, doing their gift excellently and who is living their passion - those are the people that inspire me," she said.
