Durban pensioner suffocated to death in home invasion

The family of a Greenwood Park pensioner who was killed during a home invasion yesterday - says its sad how senior citizens have become targets.

Three armed men broke into the Durban home, demanding the keys to a safe.
Eighty-seven-year-old Aman Essop was suffocated to death with a pillow.
His niece was also assaulted.
Essop's nephew Bobby Maharajh says the family is in disbelief and heartbroken by the incident.

He says Essop was a friendly man loved by many people in the area.
"He wasn't married, but he was extremely close to his family. He was one that would give you anything under the sun. If he knew who you were and he respected you.
"He gave you whatever he could. He was extremely respectful, hard-working. For an 87-year old, he was still doing his own gardening."
"We just going to pray as hard as we can that he moves where the All-Mighty wants him to go," he says.
Police are still searching for the killers - who made off with the safe, cash, a TV, laptop and cellphones.
