Durban pedestrian airlifted to hospital

A pedestrian has been airlifted to hospital after being knocked over by a taxi on the M25 near KwaMashu, north of Durban this morning.
Emergency services say the woman sustained severe injuries to her legs.
Crisis Medical's Kyle van Reenen says surgeons will have to assess the woman to see if they can save her legs.
"The minibus taxi struck the woman on her lower limbs causing a severe injury, where her limbs were partially amputated," he said.

Van Reenen says the 25-year-old had to be airlifted to hospital.
"Traffic was severely affected as the roadway had to be closed to allow the aircraft to land," he said.

The circumstances leading up to the incident are still unclear and will be investigated by authorities.
