Durban Metro Police to increase operations from this weekend
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Durban's Metro Police will ramp up their operations in the city from this weekend.
Spokesperson Parboo Sewpersadh says most of the Metro Police's units have been deployed.
"We will also be conducting road blocks, visible patrols and blue light patrols around the accommodation venues and where the 2017 Rage Festival is taking place," he said.
The start of the festive season and matric rage has seen an influx of visitors to the city's coastline.
Around 20,000 people are expected to attend the Rage Festival this year.
Sewpersadh is urging the public to be responsible and comply with the city's rules and regulations, especially now that the 'silly season' has arrived.

"If people are consuming alcohol, they must drink in public places. Have lots of fun, but behave and act in a responsible manner," he said.
