Durban Metro Police deployed to crime hotspots this festive season

Officials at eThekwini say the city's emergency services are fully prepared for the huge task that lies ahead this festive season.

The city's holiday campaign was launched at the Moses Mabhida Stadium today.
Mayor, Zandile Gumede says they've put in resources to make sure residents and visitors have a safe festive season.
"We felt that it was very important for our tourists and for the locals to witness our readiness as a city. We have seen our police and entire security contingency - we are more than ready," she says.

City Manager, Sipho Nzuza says the metro police have already started policing certain areas, that have been under siege.
"Areas such as Umlazi, Westville, Chatsworth, KwaMashu - where there were numerous reports of burglaries, robberies and hijackings have benefited by having the presence of the Metro Police," he says.
