Durban man who stabbed relatives to death sentenced

A 32-year-old man has begun serving a double sentence for the murder of two cousins in Effingham, north of Durban.
Given Mkhize was sentenced in the Durban Regional Court late last week for killing 26-year-old Mthobisi Dlamini and his 32-year-old cousin Sthembiso Dlamini in July last year.
Its understood that the accused stabbed the pair to death after an argument at Simplace Informal Settlement.

Police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says Mkhize was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for each count of murder.
"When an argument ensued, Mkhize allowed anger and he went to his house and took out a knife and fatally stabbed the cousins on their upper bodies.
"An intensive investigation was conducted after a case of murder was opened and the accused was arrested after he was hiding at a relative's home."
