Durban hostage drama: Case of intimidation opened

Police say a case of intimidation has been opened following Thursday's hostage drama in Durban.
A former SANDF member is said to have held employees at a pension fund office hostage in the city’s CBD.
The retired soldier was apparently demanding his pension money.

Police managed to diffuse the situation and took him in for questioning.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele said: "There is a case of intimidation that has been opened yesterday after the incident that took place on Anton Lembede Street in the GEPF [Government Employee's Pension Fund] offices.
"For now, what I can confirm is that the matter is still under investigation."
